In May of 1984, Lynn moved his family to Austin, Texas.  From 1984 to 1993 Lynn worked with surveying and engineering firms in the Austin area, gaining experience with land development.  This experience was varied between private development clients, utility and roadway projects for Austin and surrounding cities and counties, along with State roadway projects for TxDOT.  With the exception of a little over a year in Massachusetts to help a friend establish a new surveying company, Lynn continued gaining professional experience in the central Texas area.

During September 1993, Lynn co-founded Interstate Surveying, Inc.  From 1993 to September, 2004, he was Vice President of the firm.  Interstate was involved with varied types of surveying projects including all aspects of subdivision development, commercial project design and construction, multi-family developments, utility infrastructure design and construction, and roadway right-of-way route design and construction.  Clients included a mix of private and public entities.  Interstate Surveying also completed hydrographic surveys for marina development on Lake Travis, and raw water intake structures for the Cities of Round Rock and Georgetown, Texas, and the Lower Colorado River Authority.

Following a short period of self employment (Savory Surveying & Mapping), one of his clients, Martinez Geospatial, an aerial mapping firm from Minneapolis, MN, persuaded Lynn to join them and establish a surveying services division.  From 2004 to 2009, Lynn managed the Martinez surveying efforts which included ANACP, Development, and Obstruction Surveys for both Commercial and General Aviation Airports; Rotating R.O.W. design Contracts with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT); The five mile extension of Wonder World Drive (FM-3407); Relocation of FM-511 in Brownsville and the widening/improvement design and ROW survey for a fifteen mile section of U.S. Highway 281 in Brownsville, along with providing photo control for individual planning and development projects.

In April 2010, Lynn joined AMD Engineering to manage their new surveying services division.  With this addition, AMD now offers a full array of surveying services.
